Take Lean-N-Clean for breakfast, in addition to a small light meal, or at night instead of snacking if you are a person who needs to lose weight at the same time. If you do not need to lose weight, take it in-between meals. Lean-N-Clean may be taken 1 to 4 times a day.
Lean-N-Clean is a stool bulking agent, internal moisturizer and detoxifying mixture that contains water soluble fibers from 3 different sources: Psyllium Husks, Guar Gum and Irish Moss (a seaweed) plus 8 other active ingredients including detox herbs and nutrients. (see ingredient details). It provides bulk for the colon, food for the colon cells and detox herbs to cleanse the colon tissues. As a result it promotes wound healing in the colon. These features decrease the pressure on the colon walls as recommended by the medical field.
Lean-N-Clean contains several detox herbs and nutrients from whole foods. It has the properties of a soothing internal lubricant that acts as an internal moisturizer. As a result, it helps to soften the stool and relieve constipation, which is the major cause of diverticulitis. It provides nutrients to colon tissues to help the body heal itself. Some of the detox herbs have anti-inflammatory properties to help control the inflammation of diverticula. However, Lean-N-Clean does not contain stimulant laxatives, and therefore, it does not create lazy-bowel syndrome.
You may use Lean-N-Clean as a maintenance therapy after your diverticulitis symptoms have subsided.
Some people may find a high fiber formulation worsens bloating and distention at the beginning of therapy, but these symptoms usually resolve after a few weeks, or after the 2nd stage of Nutrigenesis Approach Intestinal Cleansing Program.

This is one aspect overlooked or ignored by most conventional Western medical practitioners. If you know that diverticula are colonic cesspools for harmful bacteria, viruses, parasites and toxins, doesn't it make sense to remove or cleanse these waste materials and toxins on a regular basis to eliminate the breeding ground for these unwanted "guests" in our colon? These unwanted "guests" are the major root cause of diverticulitis.
Antibiotics are not the ultimate answer for diverticulitis because our colons contain billions of different kinds of bacteria, some are harmful and some are friendly. We can never kill all the bacteria in our colons and we definitely do not want to kill all the friendly bacteria, which actually help maintain our normal bowel functions.

"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"
Diverticulosis is the condition of the colon when a number of diverticula (plural of diverticulum) are present. Diverticula are small herniations (pouches) of the mucosa through the colon wall. When the diet lacks bulk and the volume of residues in the colon is small, usually in the situation of constipation, the colon narrows and its contractions become more powerful, increasing pressure on its walls. This promotes formation of diverticula. Diverticula are often filled with old fecal matter, which will slowly (over years) dry up and turn into stones called fecalith. These colonic cesspools are reservoirs for bacteria, viruses, parasites and toxins. When these diverticula become inflamed, the condition is called diverticulitis. If unattended, diverticulitis may lead to rupture of the Diverticula. Fecal matter will contaminate the entire abdominal cavity, presenting a life-threatening condition.
The symptoms of painful diverticula disease are similar to those of irritable bowel syndrome (spastic colon), but more likely to be localized in the left lower quadrant. Abdominal cramping, pain, and altered bowel habit are the usual symptoms. Constipation may alter with an increased frequency of low-volume stools. When diverticulitis occurs as a complication, the patient may have similar symptoms as well as fever, left lower quadrant mass, abnormal increase of white blood cell count (indicative of infection), mucous, and occult blood (concealed hemorrhage) in the stool or passage of bloody stool.
Diverticula can be diagnosed by barium enema or colonoscopy.
1. Decrease the pressure on the colon walls by decreasing dietary
fat and increasing water soluble and insoluble fiber.
2. Medications to relieve symptoms
3. Antibiotics to treat infections
4. Surgery
5. Avoid narcotics, especially morphine-type of narcotics.
- Avoid use of chemical or herbal stimulant laxatives on a regular basis. The chronic use of stimulant laxatives has the potential to damage the "myenteric plexus" (nerves in the intestinal muscles), causing lazy-bowel syndrome.
Examples of chemical stimulant laxative: Bisacodyl (Dulcolax), phenophthalein (Ex-lax, Phenolax, Modane, Feen-a-mint), casanthranol, mineral oil.
Examples of herbal stimulant laxative: castor oil (Neoloid, Purge, Emusoil), senna (Senokot, Dieter's Tea), cascara sagrada.
- If you are over 40 years old, it is strongly recommended that you have
a baseline colonoscopy. This procedure should be repeated every 3 to 5 years,
especially if you have had colon diseases, such as polyps, diverticulitis, colitis,
hemorrhoids, etc.
- Avoid high-protein diets (high protein bars, diets with high content of bean, meat, cheese and/or dairy).
- Increase the consumption of fruits and leafy vegetables.
- Avoid consumption of fatty food, deep-fried food, especially when saturated fat and/or hydrogenated oils are being used.
- Small seeds, such as flax seeds with hard outer layer should be ground before consumption.
- Increase the consumption of water.
- Avoid alcohol or nicotine.
- Increase physical activities.
